Thermal spray or plasma spray is the application of a thin coat of metal or ceramic to a surface at high pressure and extreme temperatures. Precise tape masking creates a temporary barrier to prevent the application of thermal spray coating to a specific area while removing cleanly and easily without leaving adhesive residue.

Why use them?
These performance coatings are used to enhance the precision metal parts in terms of wear, corrosion and/ or temperature resistance. They’re used widely in the marine, aerospace, automotive, energy and healthcare sector. These tapes have excellent strength and flexibility which allows for easy wrapping of complex shapes.

We supply plasma thermal spray tape and double and triple layered tape which are approved by leading aerospace companies worldwide. We also have specialist constructions tailored to specific needs using foil tape and glass cloth tape for extreme temperature such a HVOF (high velocity oxygen fuel).

Many of our thermal spray tapes are approved by Pratt & Whitney, Rolls Royce and GE.

JIT are excited to share a revolutionary new material in the world of silicone encapsulants for high pressure applications…

JIT are excited to share a revolutionary new material in the world of silicone encapsulants for high pressure applications…

CHT SilSo SE2014 is a new, low specific gravity silicone designed to withstand high pressures.

Encapsulants used in high atmospheric pressure environments require the physical properties needed to resist the forces exerted upon the components and the elastomer used to encapsulate them.

If the material is too rigid and hard, it will transfer pressure to the component causing stress fractures and damage particularly to delicate electronics. On the other hand, if the elastomeric material is too soft, both the encapsulant and the components will distort under pressure causing failure through cracking or ingress of moisture or other contaminants. Therefore, there is a need to balance both the hardness and modulus of the material being selected.

CHT have formulated SilSo SE2014 specifically for these applications. Using specialist fillers resistant to high pressures, along with elastomeric silicone polymers, the resulting encapsulant protects against stress while remaining flexible enough to maintain contact with the components and enclosures.

Due to its unique fillers, it is resistant to withstand high under water pressure at 11,000 meters and 1000 bar making it a great material for water, blocking in under water cables. It is being used in umbilical cords found in deep sea submersibles, protecting the cables used for vital communications. It also has UL94-HB approval and a very low specific gravity making it an obvious choice for use in aerospace and aviation applications together with automotive electronics by reducing weight and providing cost savings. It is perfect for us in gas turbines, underground / subsurface electronics, high pressure test equipment, vacuum pumps and industrial cabling.

JIT are experts at delivering innovative solutions for complex and demanding applications, please contact us today to learn more about SilSo SE2014.

Welcome Back - The Return to Work

Like most of you we hope to see greater easing of the lock-down restrictions and the safe return to work in the coming weeks & months.

JIT took the decision to remain open during the lock-down to support our Customers working in essential manufacturing and distribution.

As always, safety remains a top priority and as we have already been through the process of COVID-19 risk assessments and ensuring our facilities were suitably prepared, we wanted to share with you some of the resources we utilised in the hope if helps you with your planned return to work.

  • Consult guidelines - information available on government websites, World Health Organisation & HSE.
  • Risk Assessment - CIPD's COVID-19 template available here.
  • Workplace - organise work areas to ensure people can adhere to social distancing - section off areas using tapes, floor decals and provide signage throughout to serve as a reminder to keep 2 metres apart from others. Where 2 metre distancing cannot be adhered to, sectional screening may be used to create a physical barrier between people.
  • Hygiene - Provide adequate hand washing facilities with water, soap & paper towels and ensure hand sanitiser/wipes are available at multiple locations especially for those who are unable to access hand washing facilities - in vehicles/vans, warehouse etc.  Ensure cleaning & disinfectant materials are available for the regular cleaning of work stations & equipment/tools - especially if shared between operators.
  • PPE - Follow the HSE guidelines on suitable mask, gloves etc

We hope the above helps with your plans for a safe return to work.

Don't forget, JIT are here & fully operational to support you with your consumable requirements. Please keep us in mind if you have any requirements for tapes, adhesives, sealants, films, abrasives, cleaning & degreasing products or packaging.

ISO-Chemie Expanding Foam

In addition to our existing stock holding of outdoor grade performance silicone and bonding polymers, we are working closely with the German manufacturer, ISO-Chemie to offer a wide range of expanding foams which are being specified as alternatives to conventional silicone and aerosol foams.

They offer better thermal properties in addition to peace of mind where expansion and contraction in building materials & structure has led to failings well short of the warranties & guarantees offered by the installer - in particular where height or access is a costly issue.

ISO BLOCO ONE is a special multi-functional all in one joint sealing tape with outstanding properties: -

  • A-value of 0.00m3/[h-m-(daPa)2/3] the pre-compressed tape is 100% air tight at the internal seal area, contributing in minimising heat loss by convection.
  • Also possess an optimal vapour diffusion gradient from the inside outwards (40:1) enhancing the external transmission of moisture, enabling the joints to dry out quicker.
  • Resistant to driven rain in excess of 1050Pa
  • Can be installed in adverse weather conditions.
  • Easy one step application for reliable seal - sealing a wide range of joint sizes with a minimum of tape dimensions.
  • certified Passive House component
  • 10 Year Function Warranty - on the conditions of the manufacturer (available on request).

It’s a new approach to installing windows and doors, but with the above benefits they have been well received by architects and are becoming specified more and more. (There are also FR products within the range).

Reducing More Than Your Eco Footprint

Gummed paper tapes have been around for years but have recently seen a resurgence in popularity as companies look to reduce their environmental footprint.

 b2ap3_thumbnail_GPT---Biodegradable.jpgb2ap3_thumbnail_GPT---Recyclable.png

Not only are JIT's gummed paper tapes biodegradable, made from renewable resources and eco friendly, they also offer a host of benefits: -

  • LESS WASTAGE - Used with tape dispensers which moisten & cut the tape to your required length, they dispense the exact amount of tape needed preventing unnecessary waste.
  • COST EFFECTIVE - In most instances only one strip of gummed tape is needed instead of several strips of plastic tape - using less tape offers yet more cost savings.
  • STRONG SEAL - When wet, the gummed paper tape penetrates into the fibre of the box forming an integral bond & effectively becomes part of the box.
  • TAMPER EVIDENT - Cannot be removed from a box without leaving signs the parcel has been tampered with.
  • LOOKS GOOD - Packages look well presented, secure & professional. Being easy to print on they also provide an opportunity to promote your brand.
  • TEMPERATURE RESISTANT - Maintains its integrity even in extreme temperatures & humid conditions - perfect for long-term storage or need to ship or store your parcels in hot, humid or freezing conditions.

 b2ap3_thumbnail_8_Gummed-Paper-Tape-WNF1.jpgb2ap3_thumbnail_JIT---Packaging.jpg

Button-Fix expand the range

When JIT were approached by the team at Button-Fix for assistance with bonding their ABS mouldings to stone & glass, we were happy to help.  Drawing upon our 28 years of experience of bonding applications, we knew the Parabond product would be ideal.  Button-Fix were particularly impressed with the samples we sent for evaluation and settled upon the Parabond FAST as the optimal solution for such applications.

  b2ap3_thumbnail_Button-Fix---Expand-The-Range.png

When Button-Fix expanded its range of interior panel fixings to include a bonded version, we looked for suitable adhesives to attach our ABS mouldings to a wide range of different materials and Parabond FAST has proved to be a very strong and resilient solution.  We have been able to expand our market beyond wood-based panelling and can now offer a secure and reliable way to secretly fix panel materials such as stone or opaque glass.

Thank You

Team JIT would like to say a big thank you to all those who supported our efforts to raise funds for the Butterfly Trust.

We completed the 5K Big Fun Run at Glasgow's Bellahouston Park on Saturday 29th July and managed to smash our fundraising target in the process.

b2ap3_thumbnail_Rocket-Man.jpg

JIT are Raising Funds for The Butterfly Trust

The team at JIT are in training for the Big Fun Run Glasgow to raise funds for the Cystic Fibrosis charity the Butterfly Trust.

The Butterfly Trust provides practical help, emotional support and counselling to the Cystic Fibrosis community in Scotland.  It is a charity very close to our hearts as my nephew was diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis at birth.  He is now 4 and starts school in August.  He is doing well and doesn't let his illness stand in his way or stop him from doing anything other kids his age do.  He is an amazing little boy but we wanted to acknowledge the help we have been given by the Butterfly Trust and do what we can to raise some much needed funds to ensure they continue to provide help to others with Cystic Fibrosis.

All services offered by the Butterfly Trust are confidential and provided free of charge. For more information visit www.butterflytrust.org.uk

If you would like to support our fundraising efforts you can donate via our Just Giving Page - www.justgiving.com/fundraising/Team-JIT

All donations are greatly appreciated.  Thank you.
